Samma Karuna permanent teachers’ penalties on unproffesional or unethical behavior

Abstract: The following document sets an agreement between Samma Karuna teachers hired on monthly basis and Samma Karuna school on the ground of unprofessional or unethical behavior.

The aim of this document is not to “punish” but actually to create a harmonious and professional environment by setting a clear set of rules on the ground of unprofessional behavior. These rules will be applied to every member of the teacher’s team for equal; aiming in this way to reduce the emotional load that these procedures can create when applied without a clear set of pre-defined rules or to only some people.

The following is a list of the most common misbehaviors and their correspondent penalty in points.

• Arriving late to class (5 to 10 minutes late)…………………..……………………………………………….…2 points
• Arriving late to class (10 or more minutes late)…………………………………………………………….….5 points
• No showing up to one of your classes nor letting us know…………………………………………….…7 points
  • This applies both for teacher and assistant role.
• Cancelling your class without a justified reason within 48hr………………………………………….…4 points
  • Justified reasons are medical issues or force major issues like losing an air plane.
• Cancelling your class without a justified reason less than 12hr before your class…………….5 points
• No attending to a teacher’s meeting previously agreed……………………………………………………5 points
• No attending to a training session previously agreed……………………………………………………….5 points
• No showing up for an online or presential interview………………………………………………………..5 points
• Postponing an online interview less than 12 hours before the interview time………………….3 points
• No showing up to weekly community meeting…………………………………………………………………4 points
• No showing up to weekly staff meeting……………………………………………………………………………4 points
• No showing up to initial ceremony of courses where you are teaching…………………………….6 points
• Sending an SMS instead of calling to cancel your class with-in the 24hr before it starts…..2 points
  • This will be in addition to the applicable penalty of cancelling your class.
• Not accomplishing your minimum hours of self-practice by the end of the month…………..6 points
  • Self-practice is understood as a self-development activity to work on yourself
    usually suggested by the school.
• No showing up to a community building activity that you are in charge…………………………..4 points
• No showing up to a scheduled team building activity……………………………………….……………..5 points
• Modifying the structure of a pre-set class without authorization……………………………………..5 points
• When assisting class, behaving against what have been instructed by the teacher in charge of the class………………………………………………..6 points

Immediate penalties:

Number of points	Penalty
10	Suspended for one days without wage.
13	Suspended for two days without wage.

Penalties based on accumulative points:

Number of points	Penalty
16	Your working hours and payment for next month will be reduced 25%
22	Your working hours and payment for next month will be reduced 50%
30	Dismissal.

NOTE: After a window of 30 days, points count half, and after a window of 60 days the points are removed.
