How Can We Help?
Introduction to Reception Training Guide
Welcoming Guests and Helping Them Find the Right Program
Introduction
As a receptionist at Samma Karuna, you are much more than the person who welcomes guests or answers questions. You are often the first impression of our school and play an important role in helping people begin their journey with us.
Many guests arrive feeling curious, nervous, excited, or simply unsure about what they need. Your role is to make them feel welcome, understand what they are looking for, and guide them towards the program that will benefit them the most.
Our goal is not simply to sell classes. Our goal is to genuinely help people. When guests feel listened to and cared for, sales happen naturally.
The Reception Mindset
Always remember these four principles:
- Listen before you speak.
- Understand before you recommend.
- Help before you sell.
- If you don’t know, ask.
Never feel that you need to know every answer. Guests appreciate honesty much more than incorrect information.
If you are unsure, simply say:
“That’s a great question. Let me check for you.”
or
“I can arrange a complimentary meeting with one of our senior teachers.”
Introducing Samma Karuna
When someone asks what Samma Karuna is, keep your explanation simple.
You can say:
“Samma Karuna is a school of self-realization, personal growth and healing. Through meditation, yoga, tantra and breathwork we help people develop greater awareness, balance, connection and wellbeing.”
Avoid giving long explanations unless the guest asks for more information.
Understanding Our Programs
Awakening & Healing Program
This is the foundation of our school and the best starting point for most guests.
It combines meditation, yoga, tantra and breathwork into one flexible personal growth program.
Guests can join for:
- One class
- One day
- One week
- Multiple weeks
- One month
The schedule is flexible. Guests choose the classes they wish to attend and can move at their own pace.
This is the program you should recommend to most first-time visitors.
Teacher Trainings
Our Teacher Trainings are intensive professional courses for people who wish to study one discipline in depth.
We currently offer Teacher Trainings in:
- Yoga
- Tantra
- Tetra Breathwork
- BioDevelopment
These courses have fixed schedules, mandatory attendance, and require an application before acceptance.
Many participants join to become teachers, while others attend simply for deep personal growth.
Workshops
Workshops are short intensive courses focused on one specific subject.
Examples include:
- Reiki
- Somatics
- Women’s Tantra
- Men’s Workshops
- Other special events throughout the year
Workshops are booked separately and are not included in the Awakening & Healing Program.
Helping Guests Choose
One of the most common questions is:
“Which program is right for me?”
Before recommending anything, ask a few questions:
- How many days are you staying?
- Have you practiced yoga, tantra or breathwork before?
- What would you like to improve?
- What brings you here?
Listening carefully is often more important than speaking.
As a general guide:
| Guest | Best Recommendation |
|---|---|
| New to Samma Karuna | Awakening & Healing |
| Wants to become a teacher | Teacher Training |
| Interested in one specific topic | Workshop |
| Unsure what they need | Awakening & Healing + complimentary meeting with a senior teacher |
Never pretend to know exactly what someone needs. If you are uncertain, invite them to speak with one of our senior teachers.

Often guests happily upgrade once they understand the value.
First-Time Guest Upgrade
If you cannot sell a Day Pass and the guest decides to buy only a single class, you may upgrade them to a complimentary Day Pass, provided:
- It is their first visit to Samma Karuna.
- It is the first class they are purchasing.
- You believe they are genuinely interested in exploring our school.
You might say:
“Since it’s your first visit, I’d like to upgrade you to a complimentary Day Pass so you can experience more of what we offer today.”
This small gesture often creates an excellent first impression and encourages guests to discover more of our community.

Final Thoughts
Every person who walks through our doors is looking for something different.
Some are looking for relaxation.
Some are looking for healing.
Some are searching for purpose.
Some simply want a beautiful yoga class.
Your role is not to convince people to buy.
