Abstract: Every Sunday is general cleaning day. Here is what needs to be done:

Yoga mats

Tie string to create a washing line around the outside edges of Buddha Hall and Atisha Hall so you can hang wet mats to dry.

Wash yoga mats over the little wooden bridge in front of the toilet area so that the water can flow down to the ‘river’. You will need a bucket with water and soap (both found between Buddha Hall and the tool shed), the long brush (found at the same place) and the hose that is on the left side of the toilets. Scrub them well on both sides, rinse them, shake off the water to minimize the drying time, and hang them to dry.

After they are completely dry, roll them up and put them back in the halls. 24 mats go to Buddha hall and the rest are divided between the other two halls.

Be conscious of the water you use to rinse the mats – there is shortage on the island.

Spray bottles

Refill the plastic spray bottles that students use to clean their mats after class.

  • 1 teaspoon of white vinegar from the area between Buddha hall and the tool shed
  • 2 drops of tea tree oil from the Welcome Centre. Please return it to them.
  • Water to fill the bottle

Buddha Hall

  • Sweep and mop the floor
  • Dust meditation chairs, cushions, shelves, and props and put them nicely in order.
  • Clean the shelves between Buddha Hall and the tool shed. Make sure you leave them completely dry as they get moldy easily.

Osho Hall

  • Sweep and mop the floor
  • Dust meditation chairs, cushions, shelves, and props and put them nicely in order

Awakening Hall

  • Sweep and mop the floor
  • Dust meditation chairs, cushions, shelves, and props and put them nicely in order
  • Make sure there are two boxes with plenty of tissues. If not, ask the Welcome Centre for more

Dining Area

Wash and wipe down tables and chairs with a sponge, using a bowl of hot water with soap and bleach – all found in the storage area between Buddha Hall and the tool shed
