Abstract: The following document describes a series of guidelines, steps and best practices to attend a detox guest.

  1. Welcome center informs Detox Manager when there is a new booking and provides the guests email address, booking dates and the package they have booked.
  2. Welcome center sends the guest the detox booking information ‘Samma Karuna Detox – you are booked’ PDF.
  3. Detox manager emails the guest ~10 days before their arrival date to welcome them and suggest they remove/reduce ‘toxic’ foods from their diet to eliminate harsh detox symptoms when on the retreat. See draft template in email ‘drafts’ folder.
  4. Detox manager prints the two forms Vikriti quiz and health history  and leaves them at the welcome center. Welcome center gives to the guests on check in and asks them to complete them and bring them to the consultation meeting with detox manager.
  5. Welcome center arranges a time with the guest and detox manager for the initial consultation. The meeting should be in the first 24 hours of the guest arriving.
  6. Welcome center arranges a time for guest to meet with the Program Manager for Awakening & Healing program overview. Double check this happens.
  7. Detox Manager prepares the whiteboard in the kitchen with pre-cleanse Vata meals for the guests first 24 hours. They begin the pre-cleanse meals as soon as they arrive (unless otherwise arranged).**
  8. Consultation meeting with the guest usually takes between 60-90 minutes. The consultation meeting document sets a suggested structure of the meeting. In this meeting, give them the Prakriti form to complete and bring to the next meeting (the following day).
  9. Based on the Vikriti and information received in the consultation, decide which plan they should be on and prepare the whiteboard in the kitchen with the appropriate meals and any notes to kitchen e.g. allergies or special requests.

How to know which plan to put them on? The Vikriti form has 30 symptoms. The first 10 are Vata imbalance symptoms, the next 10 are Pitta and the last 10 are Kapha. Whichever symptoms the guest shows more of is the meal plan you put them on. If they have many imbalances across all the doshas or very few imbalances, revert to their Prakriti results and put them on the plan of their most predominant dosha.

  1. In the second meeting, Detox Manager should discuss things from the day 2 checklist.
  2. Detox Manager books time with the Guest for the final consultation within the last 24 hours of departing to discuss integration back onto foods and to collect feedback on the detox program. Detox Manager fills out as an interview to gather the information and the testimonial. Take a photo of them if they are happy to be used on social media (Instagram).
  3. If guest is leaving before 5pm, we can offer to give them a meal to take away for the ferry or airport.
  4. A few days after their departure, email them anything you have promised to send them. Information on their dosha, links to useful websites, additional recommendations, recipes etc. As well as the link to Trip Adviser and their testimonial that they gave in the final meeting.
  5. If appropriate, post their photo and testimonial on Instagram account to promote the detox program. Store the guest information and the testimonial in this testimonial document.
  6. Complete Zoho form at the end of each week – Zoho log-in details
