Abstract: This document describes the directives for the Events Manager of the school on how to accept yoga teacher that have applied online to teach at the school.

Audience: Events Manager Welcome Center

Note: all the application received NEED to be register in “Applicants for Events & Yoga” Excel, located on Samma Karuna/Personal Folders/Events Manager

  1. Yoga teachers should have at least 3 years regular teaching experience since their Yoga Alliance Certification to be entitled for consideration to teach at the Samma Karuna.
  • You need to go through the application of the teacher and understand if this person can teach or not at the school.
  • Look at the application, the teacher should have at least 300hs. Teaching experience.
    • Confirm the teacher is certified by Yoga Alliance (only certified Yoga Alliance teachers and certified Kundalini yogi bhajan teachers can teach at SK).
    • Check that the teacher has a website, blog or Facebook page.
    • Look at the picture and videos of him performing different asanas.
  • If the teacher look “alright” then you should schedule a demo class with him and coordinate with Welcome Center who will be on charge of find a senior yoga teacher to assess the class and a spot on the A&H Calendar.
    • Demo classes are not paid to the new teacher, the payment goes to the Senior Teacher that is supervising it.
    • After the class, Welcome Center is on charge to collect the feedback from Senior Teacher that is supervising and inform the Events Manager.
    • Also other student’s feedback need to be collected by Welcome Center and informed to the Events Manager.
    • In the following 48 hrs. Events Manager will contact the new Yoga Teacher to share the feedback
    • If the feedback is positive, Events Manager will confirm to the new teacher that from now on Welcome Center will communicate with him to confirm the weekly classes’ schedule.
    • If the feedback is negative, Events Manager will inform to the new teacher that there is not the energy or style that we are looking for.
    • Complete with the feedback the file Applicants for Events & Yoga.
    • If the teacher is outside Thailand and applying to teach in a near future at SK instead of a demo class the teacher must provide at least a video with at recording of a full class of him to be considered. Or also the demo class can be scheduled for the date that the teacher will arrive.
  • If the teacher looks “great” and “super professional” you may offer to him the possibility to hold a workshop about yoga during his staying at Koh Phangan.
  • All the new teachers NEED to sign the latest Samma Karuna’s Teacher Code of Conduct before start to teach at the school.
  • Teachers that got their certification at Samma Karuna have preference to teach at the school over teachers certified somewhere else.

  • Generally speaking we prefer teachers that dedicate full time to yoga (professionals of yoga)
